The world is changing. At a very fast rate. Has technology changed? Yes. Has culture? Yes. Has dressing? Yes. Has politics, has the way of life, has thinking? But has the word of God changed?
Everything shall pass away but the word will remain solid and firm. It will remain to be sharper than any double-edged sword that rips souls apart with the truth.
The word of God will never be a friend to the world. It will oppose the dark and trample on negative human thinking. It will remain absolute and never be relative. We, humans, tend to change with the world. They say change is inevitable but that saying doesn’t exist in our realm where what we believe in is absolute.
I have interacted with some of my peers who are apparently Christians but their deeds dictate otherwise. They have the best Christian lingo. They have well studied if not crammed the Bible but their social media profiles indicate otherwise.
What they post and what they say is contrary to their beliefs, if at all they truly believe in the truth. You shall know them by their fruits, Paul says, and well, the world knows them by their deeds.
The problem is that they paint a negative picture to the world. Many find it hard to receive Christ because the thought that runs on their minds is, “Kama kuokoka ni kama ile ya Ivy ama ya Kevo wacha ikae. Afadhali nikae kwenye niko, sitaki kuchezea Mungu.” (If salvation defines Ivy or Kevin then I rather stick to my world, I do not want to play with God)
I see people who claim to be Christians forwarding nasty, unpalatable and ungodly jokes. It is sad that they even forward those to Christian WhatsApp groups.
Usually, there is a member who rebukes such but she is faced with tons of replies. She is stamped with crammed Bible verses such as, ‘No one is righteous’ ‘You shouldn’t judge others’ and ‘No one is righteous.’
The same word that sets free is normally used to yoke people to sin. It is used to provide a leeway for others to sin.
Most Christians, especially young Christians think that one can bring their swag to salvation. They think that it is never that serious. That all God requires from them is to pray, serve and go to church, Y’all should read my article on Kkrewbs titled, ‘You Are Not Doing God A Favor.‘
Young Christians think that you can be saved and be cool. It is sad that even the older Christians who worship God ‘in style’ think the same. They think that God is cool too and He will understand because he understands the change in the world.
I see ‘Christians’ posting nasty and dirty jokes on their timelines in the name of fun. They think, ‘It is funny anyway, this is a good one, this is simply just on another level, it is irresistible’ they think. It is sad that no one condemns it. Everyone is okay with it. It is also unfortunate that fellow Christians share the same nasty joke because another ‘Christian’ did so.
Most Christians never know that they are pace-setters. They do not know that they are the only ‘Jesus’ some people will ever know. They do not know that through those threads, many look up to them. They do not realize that they are the light of the world, a town built on a hill that cannot be hidden.
I have seen many sharing so-called ‘inspirational’ and ‘motivational’ graphic quotes with hard language in it. The F-word specifically has been frequent in such quotes. The outside words use such words to show emphasis and psyche themselves up in those so-called motivations and encouragement but the Christian way of doing it doesn’t require that. Ask yourself, which side do you represent.
‘2 O’clock in the f**** morning’, ‘It was f*** awesome’, ‘I was f*** up.’ Some ‘Christians’ even go ahead to censor the words using asterisks because they want to show they are doing it the right way, the cool way. They think a Christian who censors such words is holy and has reverence for God.
I ask my friends to ask themselves, “What would Jesus do?” To some Christians, exclaiming with the F word is just normal to them. When rebuked, they say, “Wacha kuwa mspiriii.” (Stop being too spiritual) Again, what would Jesus do? Would He have exclaimed like you do?
Why call yourself a Christian while you do not follow Christ? Why post that sweet Bible verse only when you are posting that wonderful photo of yours but in other days your profile is defiled by nasty and foul language?
Do you know that you cannot be both warm and cold? Do you know that your religion is worthless? Wow! Siloma just condemned me! No, I never said that. If you think I laid judgment upon you, I suppose you never came across this:
If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
If you cannot tame your own tongue but claim to be a Christian, then you are no different from those who are not Christians. You are just getting yourself under an umbrella that you do your best to poke holes in it. You make the umbrella unfit for other people to shelter in.
The world sees you and they see a false representation of Christ. The world stalks you. The nasty pages you have liked, your half-nude and dirty photos you have shared speak about you. The dirty and controversial links you have shared render your religion useless. People fear and distance themselves away from you and what you believe in and you make other people especially from the world form a false perspective of the many others who strive to walk in truth.
Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!
We lack Christians bold enough to rebuke and purge evil and ‘modern’ Christians who worship with swag are too proud to be corrected. We have tons of Christians who are in salvation for the wrong reasons; maybe they need a spouse, maybe they need something from God or they are just afraid of hell. Cool Christians hate correction, are quick to anger and want freedom. They hate limits to their salvation. Anyone who pampers their way of life is a friend and anyone who rebukes them is a foe.
So what next? You read this article, you may have been impacted by its words or they may have infuriated you and you formed an opinion of me. I do not intend to judge or condemn anyone but am required to rebuke with love. Yes, you may have walked down that path, then what?
You are under grace. This means God still loves you no matter what. He only hates the sin in you. I want you to know that you are a child of light and there is no way that light can ever mingle with darkness. You are the only hope some people will anchor to. You are the only Jesus some people will ever meet.
Remember we live in a very fake world where people fake it to make it but deep inside that someone needs to fill a void. Maybe they saw you as someone who may help them to fill that God-shaped hole in their hearts but as soon as they see your timelines or hear your talk they think, “So (s)he is no different from me.”
I always repeat that in your lukewarm nature, you make it difficult for evangelists to reach out to the world as they have already formed an opinion of Christianity based on how you live. Be the light. Go delete those nasty posts, those controversial links, and those dirty pictures. Above all, strive to live a life worthy. It is never too late to do the right thing.
James 3:5-10So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race
Romans 12:2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.**********
