Background

In 2016, the Lord began to lay it in the hearts of the leaders of the youth worship team, to actively participate in inspiring the youth to be authentic in worship on and off platform. There was the need to start rebuilding the walls of glory, just like it was in the time of Nehemiah. It was time that ‘millenials’ started being known now for all the good and pleasant reasons. It was time to wisely utilize our God-given position of influence for the right impact and the only way to achieve this would be through impacting the community, most especially the youth with the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

We envisioned in the spirit, that in due time, the history would change, and we would be a light on a hill not only in our church but to this generation as a whole. We knew that to achieve this, we would use our area of influence that which God has gifted us in; that which he had put in our hands. Like Moses, the staff in our hands was Music, and we believed that God would use that to achieve what he had in His heart for this generation.

We looked forward to having a generation that would be ready to know God and make him known. People that would be passionate for God, fervent in prayer, value stewardship and embrace unity. We purpose to prepare hearts to respond obediently to the proclamation of God’s word.

It is in light of this revelation that the annual worship experience was born.

Reignite (Love, Peace and Unity) Worship Experience

Theme Verse Ephesians 4:2-3

In an analogy to explain the triune God C.S Lewis says that ‘’A world of one dimension would be a straight line. In a two dimensional world, you still get straight lines, but many lines make one figure. In a three-dimensional word you still get many figures that make one body. On human level, one person is one being; any two people are two separate beings. On a divine level you still find personalities but made one in Christ ‘’.  We therefore have an assurance that if we come together to amplify this message of love, peace and unity we are one in Christ- it is approved of God.

[1]A beautiful picture from the nature of this kind of united strength is seen in the giant redwood trees of California. Surprisingly these giants have very shallow root systems that barely extend below the surface. Nevertheless their roots intertwine with each other and hold each other up so that the tree can endure strong winds. Together, if we support one another we too can stand against the tough trials that come our way.

All parts of the body, functioning correctly and in unity, are necessary for the body to work well and fulfill its intended purpose. For example in the case of a sporting team such as a soccer team which has several positions to be filled. It’s no good having excellent goal scorers if you have lousy defenders and vice-versa.  With this regard, we seek to champion holistic transformation in the community by encouraging everyone to play their part and keeping the conversation of peace, love and unity going.

This year the country is back to the ballot box. We endeavor to encourage everyone to embrace peace, to unite and respect each other. We seek to encourage the nation to embrace the words of the national anthem….. ‘na tukae na undugu amani na uhuru….’May we dwell in unity, peace and liberty……’

As C.S Lewis said “Good things as well as bad, you know, are caught by a kind of infection. If you want to get warm, you must stand near the fire. If you want to be wet you must get into the water. If you want joy, peace, power (love and unity), you must get close to or into the thing that has them. We preach this message by pointing them to Christ who has them and gives them to us.  We are therefore able to spread this peace and love and encourage our fellow countrymen to do the same.

We also endeavor to remind believers of Christ Jesus that we are mirrors of Christ to other men. When people look at us, do they see God? As Matthew 7:16 says …..”You will recognize them by their fruits….”.The message we are preaching is for equipping us for the works of the ministry we have received. (Ephesians 4:11-13). It is with this revelation that we therefore came up with the theme Reignite (Love, Peace and Unity). We endeavor to rise by the power of God and claim Kenya for Jesus. And we have the glorious promise of Jesus Christ that even the very gates of hades, evil made in/from hell, all sorts of satanic evil oppositions and limitations shall not prevail. We have His word on this.

In this regard, this year’s worship experience was born in our hearts as an avenue for all of us to put our differences behind and enroll as laborers in the Lord’s vineyard majorly through Worship.

Siloma Stephen

I describe myself as simple yet complex, difficult to fathom and a hard nut to crack. I am made of unfailing love, one that sails my boat and oversees my flaws, one that binds me not on any law but nourishes my soul. I write from my soul, generally anything I feel I need to get off my chest most of which is based on my own life experiences, talents, and passions.
