You probably didn’t know of the two seas that meet and don’t mix. Make Google your friend. You probably didn’t know of the confluence of the Thompson and Fraser Rivers (Lytton, BC, Canada), the Rio Negro and the Rio Solimoes (near Manaus, Brazil) or the Confluence of the Rhone and Arve Rivers in Geneva Switzerland. Make Google your sibling. You probably don’t even know what a confluence is. Please… Get married to Google, get kids and live ‘googily’ ever after! When two or more bodies of water meet, like rivers, it’s called a confluence. This occurs when two streams join to become one river or, as in the examples below, when a tributary joins a larger river. Oh no! Did I add another? Tributary? Okay.. A tributary is a river or stream flowing into a larger river or lake. Got it? Now look at the photos below.
This is the Gulf of Alaska these two oceans meet but don’t mix. There has been a lot of debate online about difference in density, debris, silt etc. but that is not going to be relevant in this post. Just know they don’t mix. Don’t poke your nose into details I never asked you to! 😀
The above is the confluence of the Rhone and Arve Rivers in Geneva. Take keen at the line of confluence, you will notice that there is one very dirty river, and the other seems to be clean, blue and somehow breathtaking. Focus on the meeting point and you will see that the dirty river has somehow infected it’s dirt virus into this beautiful girl, sorry, river!
Now forget about rivers. Let’s go to the Bible. Let’s see what the Bible says about evil people.
“If you are always planning evil, you will earn a reputation as a troublemaker. Any scheme a fool thinks up is sinful. People hate a person who has nothing but scorn for others.”
Let’s take the river that’s full of dirt as the evil person. It is planning to dirtify the clean river and so it earns its reputation as a dirty river which is unpleasant even to look at.
“Don’t be envious of evil people, and don’t try to make friends with them. Causing trouble is all they ever think about; every time they open their mouth someone is going to be hurt.”
The clean river knows that it’s close to a dirty river. It is not envious of the dirt, the murk, the debris nor the silt that its adjacent river has. At their confluence, the clean river is somehow dirtified by the dirty river, a proof of every time evil people open their mouth someone is going to be hurt.
1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
I believe it is not by chance that the rivers above don’t mix. I think it is because they are awaiting this post. They are staged so that I can do the inspirational bit then they marry off. As you still plan to take a trip to Switzerland to see them, they would have moved on and will have sorted their marriage feud. How sweet does God teach us from nature? That you should have nothing to do with people filled with dirt, debris and silt? Do not be deceived, bad company ruins good morals. That is self-explanatory. I add, do not be deceived, no one can simplify that verse more than the Bible itself.
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”
The river on the left decided not to be a companion of the one on the right! This is because it has refused to give in to any dirt that the other excretes. It has refused, its salt, its density, it’s color and even it’s promises to take her on a date. Girls, refuse those promises from that sponsor. Treat him like this river. Refuse those advances from guys with no direction, guys that don’t act their words. They have no difference than Mr. Dirt up there, so salty, so dirty that no fish will survive. You are the fish! (I know someone is hugging their screen right now)
And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
What comes of that dirty river is what defiles it. The dirt, the sewer, the salt, the silt etc. Do you let your mouth say ill? Do you curse? Will I censor your words if I were to transcribe all what you say in a day? Are you a terrible liar? Do you plot to do worse? To set others up, to steal from your company? Your country? Are you the one who goes to hang dirty clothes whenever your neighbor’s wife is hanging her’s? Do you not want to see the guy you hated soar high in the sky? Do you have pride that you see others as low beings in the society? And above all, are you a hypocrite? The scripture says that all these come from your heart and that is what defiles a person.
“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
The works of the dirty river are evident, making us not ride our boats on it, making the beautiful fish not go on a date or start families there and forcing its way in to hit on a girl who already resisted her, the blue river. For the flesh is the weakest of all, it will make us go against the will of God. Don’t assume you never read the word ‘drunkenness’ up there. Drunkenness is a sin. Period.
With everything the Bible says about evil people. How should we approach them? What if our good people became evil? How will we correct them in a Godly way? How will the blue river help the dirty remove the dirt in its life and become beautifully one?
“Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.”
I know you don’t know the meaning of divisive. It means ‘tending to cause disagreement or hostility between people.’ The Bible gives you a right to walk away from a person who hates correction. It gives you a right to walk away from foolish people because only fools hate correction. That is after you have warned them twice,. The blue river has the right to say “Whatever men!” to the dirty river after it has tried its best to persuade the dirty friend to bathe. So how are we supposed to correct or warn these friends?
“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
The Bible still tells you to give the friend 3 chances, talk to him, tag along witnesses, use a spiritual authority and if he refuses to listen, treat him as a Gentile and a tax collector. Now, make the Bible your friend so that you know how Gentiles and tax collectors were treated. Let’s use the example of our rivers. Let’s say the dirty river has refused to take a bath completely, the clean river can tag along other clean rivers and plead with the river that he should try and take a bath at least twice or thrice a week, if he still refuses, the clean river should report it to the ocean and if he still stinks then the clean river should treat him like trash.
Guys, negative people are people that pull you down. They are people you don’t share the same dream and passion with as they always have a disclaimer in them. They pull you down. They have a way of showing you that you can’t make it. A quote says of what negative people will do to you.
“7 things negative people will do to you. They will…
1. Demean your value;
2. Destroy your image
3. Drive you crazily!
4. Dispose your dreams!
5. Discredit your imagination!
6. Deframe your abilities and
7. Disbelieve your opinions!
Stay away from negative people!”
“Protect your good image from the eyes of negative viewers, who may look at your good appearance with an ugly fiendish eye, and ruin your positive qualities with their chemical infested tongues.”
And yet another;
“Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.”

Over the years my phone book has changed because I changed for the better. In summary, the two rivers will NEVER mix! They don’t share the same purpose. They don’t have the same chemical composition, they don’t have the same density nor do they have the same pH levels. (I just guessed that ones, Scientists don’t be on my neck!)
