Did God Really Say?

Did God Really Say?

43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. – John 8:43-45 ESV

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” – Gen 3:1 ESV

These two scriptures are perhaps what describe life best. I love them, and they are memorized in my heart. For the longest time we have preached the Gospel of Jesus, most people know that He is abounding in love, good and most of all, He died for our sins.

Most people know who they are in Christ. Most people know that there is no condemnation and that they are set free and free indeed. Most people know that they are no longer slaves to sin but to righteousness through Christ who strengthens them. Most people seem to know the truth.

Why does everything become unrealistic when things get challenging? Well, Genesis 3:1 says simply says that the snake (Satan) was the craftiest of all animals God created. The devil contends with every promise that God sets out in our lives. He is a master crafter, the father of lies and because he knows he has got no direct impact on our lives, he simply suggests. He wants us to doubt us.

The devil cannot take what is deposited inside your heart by God. All he can do is to ask, “Are you really sure?” He wants a ride in your life and when you give him a ride, he will surely want to drive. The devil could not take what God had deposited in Eve so he decided to ask her, “Did God really say?” All he needed Eve to do was to doubt herself.

You may have big dreams and goals. Maybe own a posh house in the leafy suburbs. Maybe own a helicopter, maybe be the top of your class, maybe believe that your business will prosper, maybe believe that God will heal you or believe that you are going to get married, but the master crafter, the father of lies will be on your case.

He will ask, ‘Do you think you can get a house in Karen? Really?’

‘Ooooh, own a helicopter? Do you know how much a hanger costs?’

‘You want to be top of your class? C’mon, you and I know you are dumb.

‘That business? You have seen how your friend tried and failed.’

‘You believe you are healed? No your not. You are still sick. Listen to your body. Sometimes get real in life.’

‘Hahaha you want to get married? But nobody in your family has gotten married. You are cursed.’

Did God really say that you have everything?

Did God really say that you are healed?

Did God really say that you are going to prosper? When did He say it? Si you know that the poor work for the rich. And you don’t have that skillset, you do not have that expertise.

Know that you are beautiful, you are destined for greatness, you are healed and you have the best things in life. Anything contrary to that is from the devil. You can be and do anything. Just know that anything that is contrary to what God says you are is from the devil. Anything that tells you that ANYTHING is impossible is not from God. It is from the murderer, the father of lies.

I will urge you to read the whole of John 8. Also tune in to NTV Kenya every Sunday 9:00 EAT, Prophet Elvis Mbonye will teach you more.
